window

The next weyr that you enter is rather gray, except for the vibrant color of the flowers on the windowstill. The blossoms fragrance is almost intoxicating and you don't notice the form sitting down under it until she turns to you and says, "Hello."

Blinking to make sure you're not imagining her, a girl with a flushing face of about fifteen turns risens from the cot to greet you. "My name's Jetrian, and you are?" You quickly supply your name. "Well nice to meet you. I assume you're to meet Selinath."

Selinath

Taking in your confused look Jetrian moves aside to reveal a dark gold dragon lying on a stone couch. A queen, one that looks as proud and regal as a golden queen can be. "Selinath was the second queen to hatch that day. She took her time choosing, and by the time she came to me I couldn't even squeak out a single word. But she's a darling isn't she?" Agreeing with Jetrian, you move aside as she picks a bowl of meat from the table.

meat

The blue bowl is overflowing with meat, and right next to it is a crossbow. Seeing the look on your face, the freckled-face girl smiles before speaking. "What, never seen a girl with one of these before? Probably not I guess. I grew up in a family of eight brothers and learned to hunt along side of them."

After placing the heaping bowl in front of Selinath, she hands you the crossbow. You wonder at the dangerous contraption. "You use wherry gut as the string, no finer one than that. And the ichor is rather good at shining it." Jetrian grins at expression you make at that remark. "With the hunting my brothers and I did, nobody went hungry in the hold. And now I can hunt for my darling Selinath."

You hand back the bow. "I really never expected to impress a queen, my brothers told me that I was more suited to impressing a brown or blue. Let me put this away." Pushing short, black bangs out of her hazel eyes, Jetrian pulls a box from under the cot. Inside are rags, sweet-sand, blanket, bottles of oil, and numbweed. She places the crossbow carefully inside it. "I'm rather glad that I'd been prepared." And with that she pushes it back under.

"I'm going to have to bathe Selinath when she's done eating." Jetrian reaches over and hugs the queen. You point at the window, and she smiles. "My mother made me take some of the flowers that grew around our home to remind me of them. I suppose you're leaving now. Good-bye, and do come back."

Jetrian stops you right before you leave. "Oh, and if you want to look around where I impressed Selinath, just knock on that door below and ask for Weyrharper Dacia. She'll know what to do." And with that you leave Jetrian and Selinath.
