"Dear mother and father, I've never been more elated or tired in my life. I really can't believe that it happened to me..."

It's a female voice you hear walking down the corridor, barely audible but for the slightly ajar door.
Softly you knock on the door and are about to leave when a soft voice says, "Come in."
It's a young woman of about seventeen with dark brown curly hair sitting at a table. She appears to be writing something, but you can't tell what it is from the angle that you're at.

"My name is Ailen, and it's probably me that you heard talking. I tend to say my thoughts aloud when I write." A slightly rueful grin touches her lips before she speaks again. "Why don't you sit down, the stool's over there, and I haven't really talked to anyone since I impressed." Something in her voice makes you want to stay with this gray-eyed girl, and you pull the stool right beside her.

Nearby on a stone couch is a hatchling a blue... Hmmm, a girl impressing a blue dragon. The hatchling looks up at you as if senseing your thoughts. This girl must be rather special to impress a blue you think. The hatchling nods at you and grins the way only a dragon can. Suprised, you barely hear Ailen's words.

Balinth

"I'm rather suprised I impressed a blue. First I get snatched away from home, and then I impress a blue dragon. Now I'm wondering what my parents will think! Kind of scary, huh?" After what seems an eternity of silence, the both of you begin to laugh. For the first time since you arrived Ailen actually smiles.

"Thanks for the laugh, I really needed that. But actually, I excited about impressing Balinth. I've never ridden on a dragon before, and that one brief ride here makes me want to be a dragon rider. And now here I am, a blue rider!" This time you can't help but smile at the change in her.

"Well, I've got to get back to writing this letter to my parents. It's been nice meeting you, but I have to finish this before anything else. I hope you come back soon, good-bye."

And with that Ailen goes back to writing to her parents. As you leave you hear her voice...

"Well I've impressed all right; a beautiful, sky-blue dragon.
Balinth is his name, and I am truly happy ..."
