It is of her own choice and the others respect it. Would she desire companionship they would gladly be with her. Instead she silently tends to a garden. Everlastings.. strawflowers of orange, yellow, pink, and white dominate it. The dahlias look more like miniature fireworks. Tea roses and double peonies grow together. An old, scented, rambling wild rose overwhelms its supports. There are also daisies, daylilies, and lilacs. Patches of pale pink carnations and darker pink thrifts serve as informal borders along with briars of wild blackberries and blue irises. Suprisingly you see that snow peas laden with their sweet pods also grow with the flowers. It is a lovely garden.. and yet there is also something very sad about it. Tears prick your eyes and you turn away from it to look at the mare. She meets your gaze and nods; quiet understanding in her eyes. When you finally leave the Crystal and her garden, you then notice one last kind of flower. Scattered in the grasses are small, pale blue flowers; forget-me-nots.
